About Us

Conservation and restoration of cultural heritage is a profession that stands in stark contrast to our fast-paced, noisy times, when completing a product as quickly as possible is so deeply ingrained in our thinking. Conservation should be a quiet profession, guided by method and reflection each time we encounter a new work.

Dorica Restauri was established in 2019 following specialist training in the conservation and restoration of works of art, particularly paintings on canvas and panel, and wooden sculptures, together with ten years of experience in the conservation of stone, frescoes and architectural decoration. The decision to set up an independent practice grew out of an enduring passion for a profession that continues to develop in fascinating ways. It calls for continuous learning and professional development to refine the skills needed to preserve unique objects for future generations.

Oil paintings, tempera and mixed-media works, wooden sculpture, lacquered surfaces, gilding and silvering, stucco, frescoes, decorative cement, sgraffito plasterwork and terracotta are among the materials and techniques we have worked with, alongside photographic and graphic documentation (including the use of CAD software and the SICaRweb platform — the Italian Ministry of Culture's online information system for documenting, planning and managing conservation projects).

Over the years, in addition to carrying out conservation treatments and planning such work, our experience has expanded through providing technical consultancy in support of the works management team, as a professionally qualified cultural heritage conservator-restorer under Italian legislation, directly on conservation sites.
